Hoeven Names North Dakotans To Serve On State Boards

BISMARCK, N.D. - Governor Hoeven recently appointed several citizens to serve on state boards:

John Von Rueden and Diane Larson of Bismarck have been reappointed to three-year terms on the State Historical Board. Von Rueden is a realtor with Von Rueden and Associates and Larson is a caseworker for the Police Youth Bureau. The board sets policy and oversees the operations of the State Historical Society of North Dakota and their statewide programs.

Gaylene Massey of Bismarck, Scott Holdman of Grand Forks and Gloria Maragos of Minot have been reappointed to three-year terms on the Youth Development Council. Massey is Program Coordinator for the Youth Correctional Center; Holdman is Program Coordinator for the Job Service North Dakota Youth Employee Training Program; Maragos is the director of the Ward County Judiciary Juvenile Court. The Board advises the Workforce Development Council on youth employment and training policy, establishes links with other state and local youth services providers and provides a strategic planning and policy recommendation role and oversight of the youth programs under the Workforce Investment Act.

Bernie Dardis of West Fargo has been appointed to a three-year term on the Judicial Nominating Committee. Dardis owns Cook Sign Company. The Committee screens candidates for vacant judgeships and provides the governor with a list of names from which to make an appointment.

Janet Funkhouser of Beulah, Cheryl Tollefson of Dickinson and Phyllis Kuno of Ellendale have been appointed to a three-year term on the State Library Coordinating Council. Funkhouser is a homemaker and past president of the Beulah Library; Tollefson is the director of the Dickinson Public Library; Kuno is the Director of the Graham Library at Trinity Bible College. The board assists in planning, coordinating, and evaluating the services and programs of North Dakota libraries.
