Hoeven Announces Plans For September 11 Anniversary Commemoration
BISMARCK, N.D. - Governor John Hoeven today announced plans for a commemorative ceremony at the Capitol Complex to be held on the first anniversary of September 11, 2001.
‘September 11 is a day we will always remember,’ Hoeven said. ‘This year, in commemoration of that tragic event, we will gather to especially remember the victims, families, police officers, firefighters, emergency services personnel and the heroic efforts we witnessed on September 11.’
Hoeven today issued a proclamation declaring September 11, ‘Patriot Day’ in the State of North Dakota. President Bush signed U.S. Public Law 107-89 on December 18, 2001, designating September 11, ‘Patriot Day’ nationally.
The City of Bismarck, The Bismarck Tribune, St. Alexius Medical Center, students and other citizens will participate in the commemoration. The time of the ceremony and additional details of the event will be released in the course of the next several weeks.
