Hoeven To Discuss State‘s West Nile Virus Response Efforts
BISMARCK, N.D. - Governor John Hoeven will hold a news conference Monday, August 12, to discuss the state‘s new and ongoing West Nile virus response efforts at 2 p.m. in the Governor‘s Conference Room at the State Capitol in Bismarck.
Other participants include:
- Dr. Craig Lambrecht, chief state medical officer, North Dakota Department of Health
- Dr. Larry Schuler, state veterinarian, North Dakota Department of Agriculture
- Larry Shireley, state epidemiologist, North Dakota Department of Health
The Governor and state and local officials will discuss:
- A new statewide workgroup to address control of mosquitoes and other disease-carrying insects and animals
- New federal funding to assist in West Nile virus response
- Guidelines for personal protection against West Nile virus
- Human illness monitoring
- Horse vaccination efforts
