Hoeven Appoints Citizens To State Service

BISMARCK, N.D. - Governor Hoeven recently appointed several citizens to serve on state boards:

Jason Schmidt of Medina has been appointed to a three-year term on the Beef Commission. Eldon Hintz of New Salem and Jennifer Warford of Bismarck have been reappointed to three-year terms on the Commission. Schmidt is a farmer/rancher; Hintz is a dairy farmer/rancher; and Warford is a personal financial manager. The Commission promotes the state’s beef industry by supporting beef, beef product sales and research.

Gary Petersen of New Town has been appointed to the Advisory Board to the Bank of North Dakota. Petersen is president of Lakeside Bank and will serve a four-year term. The Board advises the Industrial Commission on banking and consumer matters with the Bank of North Dakota.

Jerome Youngberg of Grand Forks has been reappointed to a five-year term on the Real Estate Commission. Youngberg is a realtor with First Realty. The Board licenses realtors, adopts regulations, and handles consumer complaints.

Lee Larson of Leeds, Marlene Kouba of Regent and Gordon Myerchin of Grand Forks have been appointed to three-year terms on the Health Council. Larson is a farmer; Kouba is a homemaker; and Myerchin is an attorney at Camrud, Maddock, Olson & Larson, Ltd. The Council monitors overall health care costs and quality of health care in North Dakota, and publishes an annual report on the state's health care.

Bruce Christianson of Minot has been appointed to the Midwestern Higher Education Commission. Christianson is General Manager and CEO of Magic City Financial Group in Minot and a member of the Board of Higher Education. The purpose of the Commission is to provide greater higher education opportunities and service in the Midwestern region, with the aim of furthering regional access to, research in, and choice of higher education for the citizens residing in the states that are parties to this compact. Christianson will represent the State Board of Higher Education on the Commission, completing the term of Craig Caspers that expires July 1, 2005; Caspers resigned from the Board of Higher Education in August.
