Hoeven Meets With Air Force Secretary Wynne
Governor Expresses Confidence In Minot Air Force Base
BISMARCK, N.D. – Gov. John Hoeven today met with U.S. Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne at the Minot Air Force Base. Wynne briefed Hoeven on the security procedure review underway as well as the effort to further strengthen security for the handling of nuclear munitions. Wynne assured Hoeven that recent events would not negatively impact the future of the base.
Hoeven also took the opportunity to express support for the Minot Air Force Base and stress the important impact the base has on the regional and state economy.
“The slogan at the Minot Air Force Base is ‘Only the Best Come North,’ and that is absolutely true,” said Hoeven. “The strong relationship between our bases, our communities and the state of North Dakota is second to none.”
Hoeven thanked Secretary Wynne for the support that the Air Force provided in establishing a joint security forces mission between the North Dakota Air National Guard and the 91st Security Forces Group. Hoeven and Wynne also discussed ongoing efforts in North Dakota to develop new fuel sources, both coal-to-liquids and renewable fuels, for the Air Force.
