Hoeven Statement On The Appointment Of Former Gov. Ed Schafer As U.S. Agriculture Secretary
BISMARCK, N.D. – Gov. John Hoeven today issued the following statement in response to President Bush’s naming of former North Dakota Gov. Ed Schafer as U.S. Secretary of Agriculture:
“Former Gov. Schafer’s appointment is a great opportunity for North Dakota farmers and ranchers, as well as for North Dakota’s rural communities, to have their voices heard in Washington. His knowledge of rural economies, as well as his relationship with our congressional delegation, will be a great asset as he takes on the responsibilities of the nation’s chief agriculture officer. We extend our congratulations to Gov. Schafer. This is a real honor for North Dakota.”
