Karen Tyler
Commissioner, Securities Department
Karen Tyler is the North Dakota Securities Commissioner. Appointed by Governor John Hoeven in July of 2001, Tyler oversees the enforcement, registration, capital formation and education divisions of the North Dakota Securities Department. Prior to her appointment as Securities Commissioner, she served clients in the banking and brokerage sectors of the financial services industry for 14 years. She currently serves as the chair of the Investor Education Section Committee for the North American Securities Administrators Association. A native of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Tyler attended the College of St. Benedict and St. John's University in Minnesota, and received a B.A. degree in Management in 1987. She has served on the boards of directors for the North Dakota School for the Blind and the Grand Forks Humane Society, and is a member of the Bismarck Rotary Club.
