BISMARCK, N.D. – Gov. Doug Burgum today commended Congress for its successful effort to pass federal tax reform legislation, which now heads to President Trump’s desk to be signed into law.

“This historic legislation will deliver substantial tax relief to nearly all of North Dakota’s hardworking taxpayers while also stimulating investment, economic growth and job creation,” Burgum said. “When we hosted President Trump in Bismarck in September, he called North Dakota’s economic success a reminder of what can happen when we promote private sector job creation versus obstructing it. Our state has built a strong and growing economy on reducing individual and corporate income tax rates, common-sense regulations and a business-friendly environment, and this federal tax reform legislation – combined with the Trump administration’s tremendous progress in rolling back burdensome regulations – will spread those principles nationwide for the benefit of all Americans. We’re incredibly grateful for the hard work of Sen. John Hoeven, Congressman Kevin Cramer, the Trump administration and everyone else who supported this legislation to ensure that American workers and families get to keep more of their hard-earned money instead of sending it to Washington.”
