BISMARCK, N.D. – Gov. Doug Burgum and Lt. Gov. Brent Sanford will hold a media availability after a Main Street Initiative listening session with city leaders and community members on Thursday in Watford City.

The Main Street Initiative gives community leaders a direct access point to a variety of resources, helping capitalize on strengths and make sound planning decisions. These efforts aim to create healthy, vibrant communities with smart, efficient infrastructure to attract and retain a 21st century workforce, helping North Dakota compete and succeed in a global economy. To date, 64 communities representing two-thirds of North Dakota’s population have become engaged in the Main Street Initiative.

What:  Main Street Initiative visit to Watford City.

Who:  Gov. Burgum; Lt. Gov. Sanford; Watford City Mayor Phil Riely; staff from the Governor’s Office and North Dakota Department of Commerce; local city, county and school officials; business and economic development leaders; and community members.

When:  Listening session at 11 a.m. CT Thursday, May 23; media availability at 12:30 p.m.
