Lt. Gov. Tammy Miller highlighted recent progress made toward the goal of making North Dakota the most military-friendly state in the nation during an event with students at Memorial Middle School on Minot Air Force Base to celebrate April being proclaimed as “Month of the Military Child” in North Dakota.

Gov. Doug Burgum was joined by leaders of 11 state agencies to kick off Financial Literacy Month in North Dakota and share a new resource available to all North Dakotans, SmartwithMyMoney.nd.gov, to improve financial literacy. 

Gov. Doug Burgum, Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara (MHA) Nation Chairman Mark Fox and State Tax Commissioner Brian Kroshus signed a historic alcohol tax revenue sharing agreement – the first such agreement to be executed under a new law enacted last year.

Gov. Doug Burgum today released the following statement regarding the passing of former First Lady Grace Link, who died Tuesday at age 105. The wife of former Gov. Art Link, Grace Link served alongside her husband through his entire political career spanning terms in the North Dakota House of Representatives (1946-70) including serving as speaker of the House (1964-70), the U.S. House of Representatives (1971-73) and as the 27th governor of North Dakota (1973-81). Art Link died in 2010.

Gov. Doug Burgum convened a meeting with Col. Robert J. Newbauer, commander and district engineer of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Omaha District, stressing the need to keep restricting flows from Garrison Dam until the threat of ice jam flooding has diminished in Bismarck-Mandan and other areas downstream. 

Gov. Doug Burgum received a commitment from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to reduce flows from Garrison Dam upstream of an ice jam causing minor flooding on the Missouri River in Bismarck-Mandan, as state agencies coordinated with local and federal partners on a whole-of-government response. 

Gov. Doug Burgum testified in the trial over North Dakota’s claim that the federal government owes the state $38 million in damages incurred in the state’s emergency response to the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) protests. 

Gov. Doug Burgum is encouraging school, community and church bands, orchestras and choirs across North Dakota to apply to serve as the Governor’s Official State Band/Orchestra Program and Choral Program for the 2024-2025 school year. 

Gov. Doug Burgum will attend the National Governors Association (NGA) Winter Meeting Thursday through Saturday in Washington, D.C. The governor will participate in a White House business session and attend sessions on workforce, housing and artificial intelligence, among other topics.
