Five-time world champion Virgil Hill stepped into the Bismarck Event Center boxing ring one more time to receive the North Dakota Theodore Roosevelt Rough Rider Award from Gov. Doug Burgum. Hill is the 48th recipient of the Rough Rider Award, the state’s highest commendation for its citizens.

Gov. Doug Burgum has accepted the resignation of North Dakota Indian Affairs Commission Executive Director Nathan Davis, effective Nov. 13, thanking him for his leadership in fostering state-tribal relations. Davis, a member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa, indicated he is seeking a better fit for his family closer to home.

Gov. Doug Burgum expressed disappointment for the citizens of North Dakota after state Senate members rejected an income tax relief bill that would have saved taxpayers $46 million in tax year 2024 and effectively eliminated the state income tax for an additional 50,000 wage earners and small business owners filing as individuals.
