Gov. Doug Burgum has directed all government agencies to fly the United States and North Dakota flags at half-staff from 12:01 a.m. to noon Monday, May 27, and encourages North Dakotans to do the same at their homes and businesses, in observance of Memorial Day.

Gov. Doug Burgum thanked Chief Information Officer (CIO) Kuldip Mohanty for his service and leadership of the North Dakota Information Technology (NDIT) department after Mohanty submitted his resignation, effective May 31, citing family reasons. Burgum has appointed Deputy CIO Greg Hoffman to serve as interim CIO.

Doug Burgum, alongside state agency officials and partner organizations, announced the establishment of the North Dakota Office of Outdoor Recreation to grow North Dakota’s outdoor recreation economy by strengthening partnerships with the private sector and increasing collaboration among all stakeholders to seize the incredible natural and economic opportunities our great state has to offer.

Gov. Doug Burgum presented his strategic budget guidelines for the 2025-2027 biennium, emphasizing the need for agencies to continue finding efficiencies, containing costs and identifying opportunities for innovation and automation in state government as inflationary costs, formula-driven demands and other factors put pressure on the state budget.

The governor directed government agencies to fly the United States and North Dakota flags at half-staff on Wednesday, May 15, and encourages North Dakotans to do the same at their homes and businesses, in observance of Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Doug Burgum has directed all government agencies to fly the United States and North Dakota flags at half-staff on Sunday, May 5, and encourages North Dakotans to do the same at their homes and businesses, in honor of Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend in North Dakota and the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service.

Gov. Doug Burgum thanked Governor’s Office General Counsel Ryan Norrell for his service to the state of North Dakota after Norrell announced he is resigning effective June 17 to return to the private sector. Burgum also announced state Labor Commissioner Nathan Svihovec will serve as interim general counsel while he continues to lead the Department of Labor and Human Rights.
