The 2023 Main Street ND Summit scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 24-25, in Watford City, has been postponed because of inclement weather forecasted for the area, Gov. Doug Burgum announced.

Gov. Doug Burgum delivered his State of the State Address to a special session of the North Dakota Legislature, urging lawmakers to approve a $91 million income tax relief proposal and strategic investments in infrastructure and the economy.

Gov. Doug Burgum expressed his disappointment that the agenda for next week’s special session of the state Legislature does not include proposed income tax relief that would utilize part of the state’s $288 million in excess revenue from the 2021-2023 biennium, calling on lawmakers to reconsider the proposal.

Gov. Doug Burgum issued an executive order convening a special session of the state Legislature on Oct. 23 to address the components of a budget bill that was recently voided as unconstitutional by the North Dakota Supreme Court.

Gov. Doug Burgum released a statement regarding the passing of former North Dakota Lt. Gov. Rosemarie Myrdal, who represented District 11 in the North Dakota House from 1985 to 1992 and served as lieutenant governor from 1993 to 2000 with Gov. Ed Schafer. Myrdal died Wednesday at age 94.

Gov. Doug Burgum announced the retirement of North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCR) Director Dave Krabbenhoft, effective Dec. 31, thanking him for his innovative leadership and his nearly four decades of dedicated service to the State of North Dakota.

Gov. Doug Burgum has directed all government agencies to fly the United States and North Dakota flags at half-staff from sunrise Wednesday, Oct. 11, until sunset Friday, Oct. 13, and encourages North Dakotans to do the same at their homes and businesses, as a mark of respect for the victims of the attacks on Israel by Hamas terrorists. The Governor’s Residence also will be lit up in blue and white, the colors of the Israeli flag, to show support for the U.S. ally and its people.
