Gov. Doug Burgum signed an executive order extending worker’s compensation coverage to first responders and health care providers who contract COVID-19 on the job.

North Dakota has launched a rapid planning process to develop operating guidelines to ensure that child care is available for health care and other essential workers through the COVID-19 crisis, Gov. Doug Burgum said.

Gov. Doug Burgum signed an executive order directing bars and restaurants to close to on-site patrons and issued additional guidance for K-12 schools to continue to educate students with alternative delivery methods beginning April 1 during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Gov. Doug Burgum announced that public access to state facilities, including the North Dakota State Capitol, will be restricted effective immediately until Monday, April 6, 2020.

Gov. Doug Burgum announced that K-12 schools which were closed this week by executive order will not have to make up the instructional time later this school year.

By executive order, Gov. Doug Burgum ordered the closure of North Dakota K-12 schools in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 based on guidance from public school superintendents, medical experts and the North Dakota Department of Health (NDDoH).  

Gov. Doug Burgum declared a state of emergency for North Dakota in response to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) public health crisis and issued guidance to K-12 schools with Superintendent of Public Instruction Kirsten Baesler and State Health Officer Mylynn Tufte.
