BISMARCK, N.D. – Gov. Doug Burgum released the following statement today after Republican legislative leaders announced a proposed infrastructure funding package.
“We commend legislative leaders for proposing a plan that addresses critical infrastructure needs across our entire state for the long-term benefit of our citizens, while also still maintaining funding for hub cities in the oil patch,” Burgum said. “While we are still analyzing the plan, components of it appear promising, and we look forward to working with the Legislature on proposals with transformative impact that ensure taxpayer resources are invested based on need, with a focus on smart, efficient infrastructure. It’s important to note that this plan does not add dollars to the general fund over the current biennium’s level, and closing the substantial gap between ongoing revenues and ongoing expenditures remains a significant challenge for next biennium.”
