BISMARCK, N.D.  – Governor Doug Burgum today signed an agreement extending for five years an alliance aimed at promoting greater workplace safety in the oil and gas industry.

The state of North Dakota, MonDaks Safety Network and U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) signed the original agreement in February 2015 to establish the alliance.

Alliance members collaborate to develop meaningful training and education programs for oil and gas exploration and production companies and their workers regarding safety and health programs. The partners also share information on best practices, increase awareness about workplace safety and maintain data from studies on industry health and safety issues.

The renewed agreement is focused on OSHA’s rulemaking and enforcement initiatives, training and education, and outreach and communication.

Joining Burgum as he signed the agreement were (from left) OSHA Area Director Eric Brooks; North Dakota Workforce Safety and Insurance (WSI) Director Bryan Klipfel; WSI Loss Control Director Nick Jolliffe; and MonDaks Safety Network President Eric Genet.
